i hate having to do repetitive tasks, so i am constantly looking for ways to automate. as an IT guy i would be forever praised for making self extracting this and unattended that. on the unix side, automation can be had with the use of shell scripts. below are tales of my discovery with shell scripts. hopefully the scripts will look better as time goes on and you can learn something from them:
